Argentium is comparable to silver, but is a slightly higher quality. Sterling silver is usually 92.5% silver and 7.5% copper: Argentium is 93.5% silver, 5.5% copper and 1% germanium. The germanium is responsible for making it tarnish resistant. It creates a thin barrier between the copper and air.
